Today, we’ve receiveda statuette with a fragment of an over-one-hundred-year-old ladder from theKozia Pass, which we won in an auction as the Zasada group during the GreatOrchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC) Grand Finale.
The iconic ladderwas a way through the Zamarła Turnia, above the Kozia Pass, for tourists andTatra pioneers for over a hundred years. Now, this beautiful history ofmountain heritage has been passed on to us. The one-of-a-kind item was given toSobiesław Zasada by Szymon Ziobrowski, Director of Tatra National Park, in thepresence of the group’s President, Przemysław Powalacz, and Artur Chwist,Member of the Supervisory Board and Zasada’s grandson.
For Mr. Zasada, this is an item of particular importance, as it represents his connection tothe Tatra mountains. As early as in the ‘50s, the grand champion wouldregularly ski down the slopes of Kasprowy Wierch. Unfortunately, in February1953, during the FIS II downhill ski race, he suffered a compound right legfracture. Months spent in hospital and a long recovery period put an end toZasada’s athletics career, but that is precisely when his true adventure withmotorsport started, earning him many championship trophies.
Winning thestatuette bidding perfectly matched the Zasada Group tenet: ‘The power ofexperience, the strength of generations’ and stresses our deep engagement inimparting values and transferring heritage through the generations. Owing toactivities such as this auction, the Zasada Group actively participates in theprotection and promotion of our shared heritage, while simultaneouslysupporting key social objectives.
